Brief Description

A climb from Loch Lomond to the peak of Ben Lomond via the Ptarmigan Ridge. Superb view all along the route and from the summit, weather permitting. Paths are well defined and easy to follow. Parts are very steep and border on being a scramble.

This route is easy to follow once on the path. There is only one path up and another path down.

From the car park follow the track north. After a short distance the track crosses a bridge. The path goes off right up through the trees. take the path up.

Keep going up!

After the Ptarmigan Ridge the path goes up the north west face of Ben Lomond. This is very steep, rising 700 feet in a third of a mile and requires hands and feet at times. The wind can be severe on this section.

The summit is a welcome site.

From the summit head south east along the well defined path.

Follow the path all the way back down to the car park. Cross any forest roads that you may come across.
